Themes for Windows® XP
Windows® XP has its themes available in three color schemes, which are officially known as Windows® XP style. And, the available colors are Default (blue), Olive Green, and Silver.
Windows® XP has a more task-based interface than the one which was more basic and was included since Windows® 95. It also provides the user with the option of interacting with each file available in Internet Explorer®. Windows® XP give you the option of changing and customizing themes onto your computer system.
How to install themes in Windows® XP?
Once you download an .exe file, you just need to click onto it to initiate the procedure of installing themes in Windows® XP. Though, some of the themes cannot be installed like this and need manual support. For those, you need to unload downloadable themes for Windows® XP to a different folder and then, extract the theme files from it. After unloading the pack, click on ‘Start’ menu and go to the ‘Control Panel’, which will give you a drop down list. Click on the ‘Display’ option and press the ‘Themes’ tab. After that, you have to go to the ‘Browse’ option. Browse to the extraction folder, which will throw a pop-up window. In that window, select the ‘Theme’ files open the one which you want. After that you have to go back to the Display Properties window and you will see the name of your new theme under the ‘Themes’ tab. Click ‘OK’ to change your old theme to the new one.
In case you do not like any of the themes available in your operating system, you can download free themes from the Microsoft® website as well. Not just that, Windows® XP also gives you the option of creating your own personalized and customized themes, if you do not like the available ones on the Microsoft® website. For that, go to the ‘Appearance’ tab under the ‘Display Properties’ option and click on the style of your liking. Change the text scheme, in case you have difficulty in reading or if you fancy some other scheme. The operating system has many such options which help you in further customizing your themes. The OS also gives you the option of previewing your customized themes for Windows® XP before applying them onto your system.
