How to Resolve Cannot Restore Issue in Windows® XP
Get to know more about resolving cannot restore issue in Windows XP.
System Restore is a in-built feature in windows XP and is used to return your system to an earlier state if you have a system failure or other major problem with your computer. The point of System Restore is to restore your system to a good condition without you having to reinstall the operating system and lose your data files in the process. System Restore takes snapshots of your system and saves them as some points called restore points. These restore points mark configuration places to return to, in the event of a problem with your system that might happen after you install an unstable device driver or an older application. Since the snapshots are taken automatically and are restored through the System Restore Wizard, System Restore is both effective and user-friendly. But these restoring might fail due to some issues. This is due to some internal troubles in the system.
Following are some of the solutions for the restore issue in the system:
- Hard disk memory upgrade
- Change the restore point
- Due to lack of administrator power
Hard disk memory upgrade
To work the System Restore feature in the windows XP system, you need enough space in the hard disk. Most commonly the needed space is 200mb. If the hard disk in the system could not provide that much space, then the restore will stop until you provide the enough space. To resolve this issue, you need to provide more space in the hard disk. To do this either removes the unnecessary files from the hard disk or upgrade the system memory. That will resolve the issue.
Change the restore point
If the restore point that you are selected is infected with malware, then the restore point will not work. If the restore point does not work, then you could change the restore point. Normally this occurs in the case of restore points created by the system itself. So you could select any of the restore points created by you.
If the system lacks the power of administrator, then also you could not perform the restoring. in this case, the restoration will be denied and some error messages might appear. The resolution method to fix this issue is to login as administrator of the system. The administrator only has the power to do the restoration in any of the systems.
