What is DirectX® 9?
DirectX® 9 consists of Direct3D®, DirectPlay®, DirectSound®, DirectInput®, and DirectDraw®. It is used to provide a richer quality to graphic-intensive games and videos. While the Windows® XP operating system comes with an older version of DirectX®, which is DirectX® 8; installing DirectX® 9 on your Windows® XP-supported HP Compaq d530 Small Form Factor Desktop PC can further increase your system’s graphics performance and also add new features to it. DirectX® 9 can be downloaded from Microsoft® Download Center and then installed onto your HP Compaq d530 Small Form Factor Desktop PC.
Minimum system requirements for DirectX® 9
To install and then run DirectX® 9 on your Windows® XP-supported HP Compaq d530 Small Form Factor Desktop PC, you need Windows® Service Pack 2 or 3. Other than that, you require at least 90MB of free hard drive space for installation of this program. Additionally, the Windows® XP users are advised to create a restore point as there can be conflicting issues between the newly installed DirectX® 9 and the previously installed drivers on your computer system.
As mentioned earlier, while Windows® XP comes with DirectX® 8, you can easily upgrade to DirectX® 9 after downloading it from Microsoft® Download Center. Before initiating the process, you should check if the program is not already present on your system. After downloading the program, you will be required to run the installation on your computer system. To do so, you first need to press ‘Ctrl’, ‘Alt’, and ‘Esc’ at the same time to initiate the ‘Task Manager’. Then, click ‘Applications’, ‘New Task’, and then type ‘dxdiag’ in the dialog box. Then, press ‘Enter’ to start the DirectX® Diagnostic Tool. Now, you just have to run the program to launch the DirectX® 9 installer and keep following the on-screen messages to complete the installation process.
