Role of MSConfig
The Microsoft System Configuration Utility or the MSConfig is used to eliminate unwanted programs that load during the start up process. The user can enable and disable the programs from a list. The utility also helps in removing the malware by allowing the virus to run while start up and then remove it using the antivirus software. The disabling of programs helps in faster booting process and thus the system crushes can be reduced.
Issues related with MSConfig
MSConfig utility is used to troubleshoot the configuration errors in Windows Vista. Some users fail to access the configuration utility since they logged on not as the administrator. Sometimes the configuration utility does not work due to the presence of harmful malware. Also some users could not access the MSConfig from the 'run' or 'Start' command. The 'search' option also hides the utility due to virus attack along with the BOOT.INI file. It should be deleted from the C:directory with the help of a technician.
MSConfig utility should not be used to do modifications on Boot.ini file on our system. Microsoft recommends doing the same only with the direction of a professional. Otherwise, it may cause system crash. Also, the user should be logged on as an administrator to do the configuration utility. The virus attacks also hide the utility from accessing. As a solution get rid of the same from the BOOT.INI file in the C directory.
