Using the Gadget
All e-mail gadgets that are available for Windows Sidebar would be a mighty task to incorporate in a usable word processor along with all the necessary programming into small programs like a Sidebar Gadget. You could, however, scroll down through the e-mails that the gadget has detected in your inbox. Overall, this is a good gadget and while it does not carry the official Hotmail stamp there is one particularly beneficial quality you could use it for multiple e-mail accounts.
When it comes to the Sidebar, Vista does not include options for themes. There are numerous third-party programs available, however, that allow you to download the themes of your choice. Once you have downloaded and installed the Styler or another Sidebar theme application, turn off the Sidebar by right clicking it and selecting Close Sidebar. In the Sidebar Styler you need to click on 'Load a Windows Sidebar Style,' which is the button just to the right of the 'Apply Style' button. Navigate to the downloaded theme, click to select it and then click 'Open.'
To view how a new sidebar theme look you need to click an option in the Available Image Resources list and then click the 'Toggle/View' button. A preview window would show you how the 'Vista Sidebar' would look with that theme applied and then click the 'Toggle/View' button again to revert to the main 'Sidebar Styler' window. To apply a theme you need to select it from the 'Sidebar Styler' list of available themes and click the 'Apply Style' button which resembles a media player's 'Play' button.
