Windows® Vista Optimization
What points should be kept in mind while optimizing Windows Vista?
Windows Vista optimization is a process used to improve the system performance. You might have seen your system slowing down without any known reason. This might be due to the increased number of unwanted programs. So, if you want increase the system performance, you just need to do certain things. Most of the computer manufacturers pack the computer with a large number of unwanted programs. If these programs reside in your system it will certainly use the memory and some other important resources. So it will be better to uninstall these programs if you don’t plan to use them. The utility programs are such types of programs that are not used. They are actually designed to control some of the software and hardware. You can uninstall these utilities by selecting the uninstall option in the control panel. The second way to optimize Windows Vista is to limit the startup programs. Many programs are designed to load with Windows. Most of these programs are actually unnecessary for you. You can limit the startup programs by disabling the unwanted startup programs. Hard disk also is an important way to optimize your system. If you want to reduce the number of files in the hard disk, you can do this by using the Disk Cleanup option. This option removes the temporary files and cleans up the Recycle Bin. You can also do optimization of the system by a memory upgradation, using antivirus programs etc.
Things to be kept in mind while doing Windows Vista optimization:
- Back up necessary data
- Registry backup
- Find the maximum memory capacity
- Recovery CD
Back up necessary data
Before doing Windows Vista optimization, you should back up all the data you need in future. Here optimization includes a process of deleting unwanted files. While optimizing, some important files may also be deleted. The Recycle Bin also will be cleaned. So you won’t have any option to recover that files. To avoid this always remember to back up the files before the optimization process.
Windows Vista optimization also checks the unwanted files in the registry and removes them. This registry contains the configuration files and service files. If they are deleted, you will not be able to do any configuration process in your system. So back up of registry is also a matter which you should consider.
Find the maximum memory capacity
For better Windows Vista optimization, sometimes you need to upgrade the memory capacity. But if you increase the memory capacity more than the allowed amount, it will create some problems. So, always try to upgrade the memory to the specified amount.
The recovery CD is the most important thing you should keep before doing Windows Vista optimization. If any problems occur with the Windows Vista operating system, you need this recovery CD to recover the system to the original condition.
