Procedure for Creating Dial-Up connection in Windows® ME.
Windows® ME is an OS developed by Microsoft®. Dial-Up connection could be used in Windows® ME to connect the system to a network using a modem. In order to connect to the Internet, you need to connect to a LAN and configure dial-up networking connection. After, that dial a Point of Presence (POP) and log on to your Internet Service Provider. You also get subscription plans for home computer users. In order to establish a Dial-Up Internet connection, client modem calls another modem located at the Internet Service Provider. The modem transfers information over the telephone until disconnected by either modems. The thing to be kept in mind while creating the dial-up connection is that there should be a dial-up modem installed on your computer and a telephone line to dial and connect to the ISP. Also, to connect to the Internet, you need an account and the information such as user name, password, local access phone number, your host and domain name and DNS server Internet protocol address.

Making a New Dial-Up Connection
In order to create a Dial-Up connection, open 'Dial-Up Networking' folder from 'My Computer' and click on 'Make New Connection' icon. Enter information such as the name of computer, device, area code, telephone number, country or region code etc in appropriate field. Click on 'Next' and finally click on 'Finish' to save the new Dial-Up connection.
Configuring the Dial-Up Connection
The Dial-Up connection should be configured before connecting to the Internet. Open the saved Dial-Up connection that was created and under 'Server Type'. Now, check 'TCP/IP' under 'Allowed network protocols' tab. In 'TCP/IP Settings', you need to select 'Server assigned IP address' and 'Server assigned name server addresses'. Also, place a check in front of 'Use IP header compression' and 'Use default gateway on remote network'. Click 'OK' and finish the configuration process of the Dial-Up Connection.
Once the connection is created and configured the system could be connected with the Internet using the Dial-Up connection. Open the Dial-Up connection, enter the username and password obtained from the Internet Service Provider and click on 'Connect'. This will make a dial to the ISP modem using the telephone linen and a connection will be established.
