Rather than going for obsolete software like the Windows® backup software it is always better to perform the automatic backup using the Windows backup option in your Windows® 98 Operating System itself. The steps needed to run the backup option in your computer are as follows. Click Startâ†’All Programsâ†’Accessoriesâ†’System Tools. This will open a list pane showing many options including the Backup. Click on the “Backup” option. (A backup wizard will prompt you to finish certain steps. Just follow the steps mentioned there and you will be done in a few minutes.) After this, you are advised to click on the hard drive icon in Windows Explorer then select Tools and then Backup. You have completed the backup job and all you need to do now is to select “Create a new backup job Backup Selected Files. You can select all the files and folders you want to backup hereafter. (In case this is the first backup, select the option “All Selected Files” as there will be no “Create a backup job” option.

The step needed to activate the automatic backup option is to click open “Task Scheduler”. The next step is to double click “Add Scheduled Task”. A wizard open and click next ``Browse'' and then find “bestart” from your Windows backup software. Click Bestartâ†’Open and then choose the appropriate scheduling. Click on “Next” option after scheduling the time and then click “Next” again. A check box with “Open Advanced Properties” opens. Click Nextâ†’Settingsâ†’Run (type the name of the job you want to run)â†’Choose either “Automatic Full Backup or “Automatic Differential Backup”. Finish the steps and you are done with automatic backup.
