Way of migrating from Windows® 7 to Windows® XP
Procedure of migrating from Windows 7 to Windows XP
Migration is the process of moving files settings and applications from one operating system to another. It involves steps like looking for the installed application, which will no longer be there, backup the important files and data to another place and restoring files to the new operating system. There may be a lot of problems during migration because there are a lot of incompatibilities between Windows XP and Windows 7. Windows 7 is the latest operating system developed by Microsoft, hence it is better to upgrade the computer to Windows 7 for getting latest features and benefits provided by Microsoft. To run windows 7 properly, the computer should have some basic requirements. It is better to check whether the computer satisfies all basic requirements.
Way to migrate from Windows 7 to Windows XP:
- System requirements
- Third party software
Incompatibility is one of the major problems that can occur during the upgrade. There are a lot of programs on Windows XP which are incompatible with Windows 7. All those programs may not work after the upgrade. In such cases you may lose some important data, which are stored by such applications. To avoid data loss, make sure that all the data is backed properly before starting the upgrade. After the upgrade is finished, download the Windows 7 version of that program from the Internet and upgrade it as well.
System requirements are a major element which need to be taken care of while upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7. Windows 7 should have some extra hardware requirements compared to Windows XP. So you should check whether your computer meets all the basic requirements before upgrading. To run Windows 7 on your computer, the computer should have 1 GHz or faster 32-bit processor, 1GB RAM or 2GB RAM, 16GB of hard disk space, a DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or a higher driver.
Upgrade using third party software is also possible. It can be done by using a software named Zinstall. The software will help you to migrate from a previous operating system to the new one without changing anything on your computer. All the applications and files which were worked with previously on your computer will work properly without any problems. Problems may occur while doing this. So it is better to keep a backup of the file before doing this. You can also contact Microsoft to upgrade Windows XP to Windows 7.
