Windows 2000 connections limit
When the user tries to connect to a workstation being used by ten users, you would get an error message. The error message would tell that no more net connections could be accepted. When the eleventh user tries to connect to workstation, he would get the error message stating that network request could not be accepted. So the reason for this problem is the exceeding the limit of computers which are connected to the workstation.
Reduce AutoDisconnect time
It is seen that pipe, print and any file would get disconnected whenever the AutoDisconnect time expires. Whenever the session is disconnected, one of 10 connections gets available. Then other user could connect to workstation system. So you need to reduce the AutoDisconnect time. You would then try to run the 'net config server /autodisconnect:time_before_autodisconnect' in the command prompt. The time needs to be specified in minutes. This is the time needed to for the server to wait before disconnecting a system on the network.
In order to solve this issue, you could either try to reconfigure Windows so that it would auto-configures the Server service. So firstly you need to run the registry editor. Then you need to go to following key called SYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesLanmanServerParameters. This would present in the sub tree called as HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. You need to then eliminate all the entries except NullSessionShares, EnableSharedNetDrives,Lmannounce and NullSessionPipes. You do not need to remove the entries which are statically coded. Then you would Registry Editor and then try to restart Windows 2000.
