‘Alt’ + ‘Shift’ keys
Microsoft® Word 2003 is frequently used for Internet applications. You can type your messages in a Word document and can send it directly to others if your PC is connected with the Internet. Microsoft® Word 2003 uses a feature called Mail Merge to do these functions. After you have finished typing your message, you can start merging using the keys ‘Alt,’ ‘Shift’ and ‘N.’ The insertion of the merge field can be done by pressing ‘Alt,’ ‘Shift’ and ‘F’ keys together. You can print the merged documents with the shortcut key ‘Alt’ + ‘Shift’ + ‘M.’
You can easily select different tools in a Word document with the help of using other keys with the ‘Alt’ key. When you press the ‘Alt’ key in your Word document, you might see many numbers and letters appearing in the toolbar. Pressing those letters or numbers with the ‘Alt’ key will select the corresponding tools. ‘Alt’ +’ H’ will open the ‘Home’ menu. ‘Alt’ + ‘N’ will open the INSERT menu. After you have opened a menu with shortcut keys, the tools will also be shown with letters and numbers and you can use these for easy access of tools.
There are 12 function keys on the keyboard. You can use these function keys as shortcuts in your Word document. Pressing ‘F1’ will open the Help window. ‘F2’ will move a text or picture in the document. If you are confused with shortcut keys, then you can press the ‘F10’ key, which will display the key tips. ‘Alt’ + ‘F4’ will close the document window and ‘Alt’ + ‘Shift’ + ‘F2’ will save the document. ‘Ctrl’ + ‘F11’ will lock the field and ‘Ctrl’ + ‘Shift’ + ‘F11’ will unlock the field.
