The Ribbon interface
Like Microsoft Word 2010 and Microsoft PowerPoint 2010, Microsoft Excel 2010 has also been delivered with a Ribbon interface. You should know that the major purpose of Ribbon is to help in discovering and using useful functions. In Microsoft Excel, the Ribbon interface allows the users to make customizations as per their own requirements and preferences.
One of the Microsoft Excel 2010 new features is the introduction of sparklines. These are small charts which can fit into cells of Microsoft Excel 2010. One major thing to note is that sparklines can be made using line format, but they can also be created using win/loss or columns. It is also very easy to edit the designing of the sparklines in Microsoft Excel 2010.
Slicers are Microsoft Excel 2010 new features which can be used for filtering data in the pivot tables. These slicers can also be moved around and resized as per your screen size. When you change data in your pivot table, the slicers are updated automatically. You can use the Insert tab to create both sparklines and slicers in Microsoft Excel 2010.
Microsoft Excel 2007 did not support macro recording while chart formatting. But in Microsoft Excel 2010, the macro recorder can be used for recording changes made in charts and other objects and it can be reused for repeating those changes.
In Microsoft Excel 2007, a workbook containing unsupported featured cannot be opened in a web browser, but in Microsoft Excel 2010, it will open. Apart from that, Microsoft Excel Services support more Microsoft Excel features, including sparklines and slicers.
The Conditional Sum Wizard of Microsoft Excel 2007 has been replaced by Function Wizard which includes functions such as SUMIF and SUMIFS. If you are upgrading from earlier version of office to Microsoft Office 2010, then the formulas you created in your Microsoft Excel 2010 will be retained in the new version. The Lookup Wizard of Microsoft Excel 2007 has also been replaced by the Function Wizard and algorithms to calculate statistical distribution functions are modified to provide better accuracy.
