Fix Microsoft® Works When It Cannot Access One Or More Files
Sometimes we are unable to open some files. It may happen for several reasons. The operating system may not support the file type, or cannot automatically run the related program. Any part of the file may be corrupted or missing. Any kind of malicious program may be corrupted to let users open the file. Whatever may be, we have to open the file to meet our needs. It is a very customary thing that one can send you a file with an unknown file extension to your computer. Double clicking the file but the Windows® cannot open it
You have double-clicked a Word or Excel® file that you have gotten through email. However, the problem is that the file does not open. A box appeared with a message that contains “Windows cannot open this file”. If messages appeared in the screen then select the option ‘Select the program from a list’ and click OK. Then a list will appear. Click the appropriate program or if the appropriate program does not appear in the list just cancel it and do as stated. You have to open the appropriate program, for example, open Spreadsheet. Then click Open from the File. Find out the file browsing the folder. An e-mail attachment should be saved first. Select the appropriate Files of type, for example, Excel (*.xl*) for an Excel® workbook. Now click the file and click open. If the file open then OK, if the file does not open then follow the next method.
After opening, the file part of it is missing
If part of the file is missing, then first save it in a format like, Rich Text Format (*.rtf), Plain Text (*.txt) in Word or Text (Tab delimited) (*.txt) in Excel. After saving the file you can open the file in the appropriate program choosing the file type in the Files of Type list.
You want to open a document, which was made in the Works Spreadsheet or Word Processor; you want to open it in Office. You can open the file by choosing All Files (*.*) in the Files of type list. To overcome such kind of file opening problem, you can also take the help of file converters.
